Syri 1 Guesthouse

A relaxing family-run guesthouse

The Syri 1 is the better of the two Syri guesthouses, set in a very quiet street near the national sports stadium. There are two Lao houses with the front building housing the air-con rooms and a lovely old house at the back containing the fan rooms. The rooms may have a slightly worn look but you do get the feeling you're in someone's house and the friendly owner certainly makes you welcome. There are a few outside areas to relax and overall this is very good value. The guesthouse doesn't currently offer food but this may change and anyway it's not far from the restaurants and bakeries in the town centre.

Syri 1 Guesthouse reviews

no thanks - 5th July, 2009
quiet yes, clean yes, room, quite uninteresting. far from the centre (relatively) but noisy street. single room was 50000 kip and not worth it at all. bed mattress was almost inexistent. the solution for the night: big beerlao and a cold shower. stay elsewhere.

very different rooms in two houses - 14th December, 2006
We spent one night in a room with fan in the main building in front. The room was quite dark with bathroom with hot shower outside. The bed was horribly hard and only a piece of rubber foam as a matress. The price was 60.000 Kip. At the next mornig we asked for another room and they offered us a very big, light and nice room with good matress in the house at the back. The room had an attached bathroom with cold shower. The price was also 60.000 Kip, a very good value for the money. If you have luck and you can get one of the better rooms, a very good option, if not only one of the cheaper alternatives in the city.
