Vayakorn Guesthouse
Warm and welcoming

What we say:
With a pretty, white exterior dotted with leafy greens on the balconies, this midrange guesthouse close to the centre of town offers some lovely rooms. Staff are polite and welcoming and run the place like a big hotel, probably due to the regular business visitors they receive. Rooms have quilted bedspreads, big windows and an abundance of wooden furniture — floor, desk, chair, armoire — but things come together in an agreeable way and rooms are spotlessly clean. All the modern comforts are accounted for including air-con, satellite TV, hot showers in sparkling clean bathrooms, and WiFi. Prices are significantly higher than other guesthouses, but standards are proportionately higher. A small coffee shop serves breakfast (not included), but no other meals.

Quite posh for the price
It appears that this hotel has completed a major upgrade and now feels like a solid three-star place while they've evidently raised their prices. I stayed for five days in a large single room and they were quoting 22,000 kip (about US$26), including a filling breakfast, to everyone, it seemed. Still, the place has a great location in the middle of everything and it still seems like a bargain. There's a huge, comfortable, and air-con lobby/breakfast room, which is very unusual in SE Asia. Also, the bed and linens are high quality and rooms are large, so this is a great mini-splurge for budget travelers. WiFi signal in the room was quite good as well.

great place
This is a great place to stay. It is well located, rooms are nice, clean and spacious, with everything you need. One of the only places I actually spent a night in my room. There are a number of nice restaurants in the surroundings. And the staff was very friendly.

thumbs up
We booked online to stay at Vayakorn House on first arrival in Laos. Rooms were very comfortable , spotlessly clean and the place has a ggod feel -all that polished wood. We came back to Vientiane at Xmas and it is even more polished- a great stay if a little more costly than some will care for.

Good choice
I stayed here for a week and was happy with the place. I paid $16 not $15 for a single room with en suite, TV and aircon. The staff were really nice and it's in a good central location but there is no guest internet available. The Mixok Guesthouse next door has fast internet. The rooms were cleaned daily.

Value for money
Stayed here in May 08. Very nice rooms and lovely staff. They allowed us to store our bags here no problems while we travelled around. Central location. Highly recommend.

Good staff
I didn't actually stay here. I was booked one night at Mali Namphu and here for 3 nights, but a room opened at Mali. I went in person to cancel my reservation and was surprised at how nice the lobby was. My room sheet was waiting for me on the counter. The man at the counter was very professional and wasn't irritated with my cancellation. Good location. PS I find it much easier to book rooms by phone in Laos rather than email.

Excellent place!
I have been stayed here every year for the past 5 years. Love the central location. Rooms are spotless and hot water is available! Prices have gone up a bit, but it is worth it. Staff always friendly and helpful.

Rooms good
The Vayakorn is a good place to stay if you can manage to book a room. The rooms are definitely decent. In 2005 I tried contacting them via their contact email. Of course, when I got to the hotel they claimed there was a ''problem'' with the internet. This Feb 2008, I tried phoning them from Luang Prabang. No one answered the phone; this was in the early afternoon. I checked with a travel agent who told me a few other people had told her the same thing. They seem to play reservation games.

Great comfort, small price
Everything is OK in this hotel. Comfort like a big hotel, spacious rooms and super clean. This is not a guesthouse, but a hotel without surprises. Recommended.
