Souphaphone Guesthouse

Souphaphone Guesthouse could be friendlier, something you may be willing to overlook for its central location and oversized rooms that come with creature comforts such as big beds, clean white linen, fantastic wood floors, refreshing air-con, cable TV, mini fridge, wardrobe, windows, bedside table and lamps.

Everything still feels new and you even get a table that may or may not have an accompanying chair. Bathrooms are bright and clean, and it has a mirror, shelf and proper shower area with shower curtain. Another bonus is the big shared balcony – the view is great on the fourth floor and it would be even better if it had seating to park yourself in. The lobby is cavernous, eerily empty and not the most happening place but you’ll have to get used to it if you need WiFi. That’s right: no WiFi in the rooms. It’s baffling that they haven’t upgraded this feature which is pretty much standard in Vientiane nowadays. It would make it an absolute winner with flashpackers -- the best at this price range. If you can live without Internet in your room, then Souphaphone is excellent value. We enjoyed too the "no durian/no dried squid" signs.
