The price feels high for such a forgettable hotel (they don't even have a pool or fitness centre), but the JA Residence is a reliable stand-by. The location is great, the staff efficient and the rooms are spic 'n span with TV, mini-bar and a kettle so you can enjoy some instant coffee whenever you please. For a great view of Singapore, ask for a south-facing room on a high floor. This is a popular business hotel and there's broadband internet in each room (though no WiFi yet), a business centre, laundry service, and excellent security. The rate includes breakfast in the lobby cafe and the hotel restaurant specialises in healthy food -- the perfect antidote after too many buttery roti prata at the food centres nearby.
