On busy Jalan Ah Wong Fook, Hotel J.B. is popular with weary reservation-less travellers simply because it's one of the first budget hotels they stumble upon. The hotel has seven floors of well-maintained rooms, but only floors two to six are served by the elevator. The spacious double air-con rooms are good value and have a TV, attached shower and big windows with a decent view if you're on a higher floor. The cheaper fan rooms share bathroom facilities that were passably clean during our visit. The staff at the front desk speak limited English, but they do sell cheap drinking water. If it's not a weekend or a public holiday, you can ask for a discount on the listed price.
