For years Brickfields was seriously lacking in decently priced, non-sleazy accommodation, but a new crop of affordable budget hotels is changing all that. The recently opened Joy Inn is a case in point. Located very close to the Monorail, it offers small but comfortable rooms at a competitive price, particularly for solo travellers. All rooms come with en suite bathrooms, satellite televisions, towels, basic toiletries and free WiFi. Those without windows could feel a tad cramped, while ones with windows could suffer from street noise. Best avoided by light sleepers who suffer from claustrophobia.
