For the full Peranakan experience without emptying your wallet, we suggest a night at the Baba House. Room rates are half of the neighbouring Puri Hotel or Courtyard@Heeren, and it's almost as charming. Rooms are spotlessly clean with comfy beds, wooden furniture, ensuite bathroom with rain shower plus Peranakan touches like a porcelain sink and doorknobs. However, the Baba House is at its loveliest in the lobby and sunny courtyard, which are filled with antiques. There is free WiFi throughout the hotel and other services include massages, city tours and room service from the adjacent Baba Cafe.
