Monkey Guest House

Laundry, anyone?

Photo of Monkey Guest House, 68 Jalan Hang Kasturi. , Melaka

What we say: 3.5 stars

It feels like every vacant space in Melaka is being turned into a guesthouse, and at first you get that feeling about this nine-room spot above a laundromat. But Monkey Guesthouse doesn't feel like an afterthought and has an art gallery feel with exposed bricks and funky art made from natural materials. Rooms are a tight squeeze, but the walls are freshly painted, the double beds are comfy and the air-con is ice cold. Bathrooms are shared and squeaky clean, and with only nine rooms they're never crowded. We think Monkey Guest House has great potential and predict it moving into a bigger building where it can spread its hairy wings and grow.
