Tanjung Inn
Pick of the flashpacker options

What we say:
If you're on a flashpacker budget, Tanjung Inn would be our pick in Cherating. The bungalows, especially the cheapest ones, are no great shakes, but the grounds are lovely, with a large lawn-rimmed pond surrounded by scattered deckchairs. The rooms, like most in Cherating, are dark, with lumpy mattresses and mediocre bathrooms, but bear in mind you'll spend most of your time outdoors. While there is no swimming pool, there is plenty of lawn for kids to run around on, and their family rooms are apparently considerably better (we didn't see one). Recommended.
