If you're looking for a solid midrange hotel near the centre of town, Hotel Seri Malaysia, at the southern end of Jalan Kampung Cina, is a solid option. Easy walking distance to the best of Chinatown's eating, with a ground floor cafe that has great river views, and with reasonable rooms and facilities, this is arguably the best downtown option in this price bracket. Part of a nationwide chain, this is a reliable option. Be sure to check online for a discounted rate as the 170 ringgit we were quoted as a walk-in was a bit on the high side.
