Kinabalu Backpackers Lodge
Cheap and cheerful
What we say:
It's nothing fancy, but you'll be charmed by Kinabalu Backpackers Lodge. It's a cosy hostel with just two dorms and two private rooms – all of which are a bargain. The dorms are air-con overnight and furnished with six or eight sturdy wooden bunks. The eight-bed dorm would be quite crowded if full, but that's rarely the case. Private rooms are furnished with a double bed and all guests share bathrooms with a reliable hot shower. The vibe is very homey with a TV lounge, guest kitchen and small balcony where you can watch the city and enjoy a free cup of coffee. Rates include internet and a light breakfast. Kinabalu Backpackers Lodge is run by lovely ladies who keep the hostel squeaky clean – solo female travellers will feel very safe here.
