J Residence

A mini-splurge with spectacular views

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 4.5 stars

If you're looking for a mountain retreat on a modest budget, this is the place to be. Just a five-minute walk from the park entrance, J Residence offers 10 houses dramatically set on the mountainside. The larger ones have furnished terraces to enjoy the valley vistas, and all have en-suite bathrooms, TV and DVD player and comfortable beds with thick duvets to keep you warm during the chilly mountain nights. J Residence does not have a restaurant, but there are two within walking distance and guests have access to a kitchen and barbecues (you can pick up some groceries at Restoran Panataran Kinabalu). The only downside to staying here is the extremely steep entranceway – watch your footing if it's been raining! Weekday rates are a steal.
