Bayu Kinabalu Lodge

Mountainside homestay

What we say: 3.5 stars

It's a bit further from the park entrance, but this simple spot will do if the other options are full. Inside the two-level wooden house are private rooms, dorms, a living room with TV and a guest kitchen. The dorms are furnished with bunkbeds while the private rooms come in various configurations to suit everyone from families to solo travellers. For large groups, it's possible to rent the entire house (550 ringgit, up to 25 people). Bathrooms are shared and there is one on each floor with a flushing toilet and hot water shower. Guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen or an adjacent restaurant serves Malaysian and Western meals. Bayu also offers the cheapest laundry service around at 1 ringgit per piece or 5 ringgit per kilo.
