Sepilok Jungle Resort
Nice pool and minutes from Sepilok Orangutan Centr
What we say:
Sepilok is a daytrip for most visitors, but it's possible to spend the night at this lodge just five minutes from the orangutan centre. Budget travellers can choose to stay in the spacious dorm or simple fan-cooled rooms, or treat yourself to a deluxe room with satellite TV and a private balcony overlooking the lush grounds with ponds and fruit trees. There's also an oasis of a swimming pool with lounge chairs and a slide -- guests are charged an additional five ringgit to use it and non-guests can take a dip for 35 ringgit. Rates include breakfast and you'll probably end up eating dinner here too for lack of alternatives. There's absolutely nothing to do after dark, but for nature lovers who prefer to wake up to the sound of birds to traffic a night here is a welcome alternative to Sandakan city.
