Small homestay with a big heart
Like most Mabul homestays, Spheredivers is set in a wooden longhouse on stilts above the water.
The seven rooms are modestly furnished with thin beds and fans that run overnight when the electricity is available. The bathrooms are shared with freshwater showers and kept squeaky-clean. Unlike most businesses on Mabul, Spheredivers gives back to the community and funds a school for local children. The included meals are a delicious mix of Chinese and Malay food and the staff are known to pick up a guitar at night. The only downside is their lack of Sipadan permits – they might be able to arrange one through another dive centre. The quoted price is the walk-in rate. Two-night packages including transportation start from 880 ringgit for divers and 520 ringgit for snorkellers.
