If you'd rather have a great time than a great night's sleep, you'll love the Discovery Café and Guesthouse with its crew of super-friendly staff, eccentric locals and boisterous backpackers. This brightly-coloured spot right by the river is party central come sun-down with pool, darts, satellite TV, live music, Western grub and the cheapest beer in town. On the other hand, the rooms are nothing special with sagging beds, average levels of cleanliness, only one bathroom per floor (all rooms share bathroom facilities) and, of course, a whole lot of noise. The air-con dorms are a bargain, but really crowded when at maximum capacity. Some will love it, some will hate it. The Discovery's staff can help with onward travel arrangements or rent you a bicycle for 7 ringgit a day.
