Aldy Hotel

All the charms of Old Melaka and a hot tub to boot

Photo of Aldy Hotel, 27 Jalan Kota. , Melaka

What we say: 3.5 stars

With a matching red paint job to blend in with Stadthuys and the Christ Church, the 30-room boutique Aldy Hotel is as close as you can stay to Melaka's historic area without pitching a tent. The rooms are pleasant with warm colours, comfy beds, and satellite TV, but the real seller is the hotel's great bistro restaurant and rocking rooftop café with dining, music, and a hot tub overlooking the city. Weekends and public holidays are when the Aldy really comes to life, filling up with vacationing couples from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore who linger on the rooftop sipping wine until the wee hours of the night. The Aldy has recently opened a second, somewhat cheaper, sister hotel in the Chinatown area. Rates include breakfast but not an additional 15% in taxes and service charges.
