Fenix Inn

Clean, central, and great value

In a very distinctive building with its namesake bird painted across the brick facade, the Fenix Inn is perfect for flashpackers looking to stretch their ringgit. A big step up in style and comfort from the nearby hostels, all 52 rooms are carpeted, air-con, and have TV and attached bathroom with a spotless hot water shower. WiFi is free for guests as are coffee and tea-making facilities. The hotel's location is central with shopping malls and historic areas both within easy walking distance. The Fenix is normally great value, but be wary of big surcharges on public holidays and an additional 15% in service charges and local taxes.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure.
