Once a 17th century Dutch mansion, the space has been converted into the chic Number Twenty guesthouse. The air-con rooms are bright and modern with a double or twin beds, polished hardwood floors, big windows with wooden shutters and fluffy fresh towels. The bathrooms and hot showers are shared, but are spotlessly maintained and stocked with soaps and shower gels. The first floor has been turned into a stylish common room with a huge plasma TV, internet corner, chaise seating, and a small library of books, magazines and newspapers. Number Twenty has the distinction of being the only guesthouse that's actually on Jonker Street itself, but the noise from the neighbouring cafés and bars might be a problem for guests hoping to turn in early, especially during the weekend street market. Rates include taxes and continental breakfast.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.
