Free brekky has become standard at Singapore hostels, but the Green Kiwi Backpacker Hostel has proper coffee as well. Mmmm... If that isn't enough to win you over, how about a sleek modern style, charming Kiwi owner, and mattresses so thick they belong in a five-star hotel? While we give the dorms a thumbs-up, the private rooms are so spartan they're hardly worth the extra cost. Weekday rates are a bargain, but there's a price hike on weekends and a towel or locker will cost an extra S$1 a day, so bring your own if you're penny pinching.
