On the edge of Chinatown in a converted shophouse, the Keong Saik Hotel's exterior is grander than its rooms. At these prices it certainly isn't boutique (try a neighbour like Hotel 1929 for that), but it has a simple charm. Rooms passed the white glove test and all have air-con, TV, mini-fridge, attached shower and understated Chinese art. The 25 rooms vary in size and not all have windows, so insist on seeing a few before you hand over any money. Rates include a simple breakfast but they charge extra for a WiFi signal that barely reaches the rooms.
