Pillows & Toast
What we say:
Occupying a heritage shophouse on one of Chinatown's less claustrophobic streets, Pillows & Toast is so appealing it may change your mind about hostels. The staff are welcoming, the bedding is heavenly, and dorm rooms are as spic'n'span as your mum would keep them. Unlike most Singapore hostels which only run the air-con overnight, guests here are actually given the remote control. Rooms don't have much extra space, but the attic lounge is a cool place to hang out with a TV, DVDs, netbooks, free WiFi, and even a foot massage chair. The few shortcoming we noticed — no elevator, a few windowless dorms — are due to the building's age. As the cutesy name suggests, rates include a continental breakfast.
