New Majestic Hotel
An inspiring boutique hotel

What we say:
Perfect for creative types seeking comfort and something a bit different, the New Majestic offers an extraordinary experience for prices slightly below those found at the upscale chain hotels of central Singapore. Despite its understated shophouse exterior, the New Majestic is a funky yet smart boutique hotel -- all 30 rooms are designed by local artists with vintage and designer pieces and no two rooms are alike. Interior walls may feature anything from a giant goldfish to a surreal tree to a pair of protruding legs, but all boast generous amenities like Nespresso coffee makers, Bose iPod docks and Kiehl's toiletries. The pricier rooms have a loft-style design with the lower area occupied by, for example, antique his and her bathtubs or an outdoor extension to a private garden.
Although it's not huge, the building manages to squeeze in a swimming pool, small fitness centre and a restaurant serving hearty breakfasts (free for guests) and haute Chinese cuisine like Peking duck with foie gras. WiFi is free throughout and laptops can be borrowed from reception.
Staff mirror the hotel's artistic and intelligent vibe -- consult with a "guest experience ambassador" to perfect your Singapore sightseeing plans. The Majestic also has a favourable location on the edge of Chinatown within walking distance from Outram Park MRT station. If you can swing it, this place is likely to blow you away.
