Singapore's best party hostels

What we say: 3.5 stars

Singapore’s night life can be a blast when you’re in the right company. If you’re looking for a hostel where the other residents are always up for a pitcher of Tiger Beer, this is where you should be staying.

Bar downstairs, bunks upstairs.

Bar downstairs, bunks upstairs.

Since it’s more bar than hostel, you can be assured of a boozy time at the Prince of Wales Backpackers. Each location has its perks – Prince of Wales Little India has its own beer garden while Prince of Wales Boat Quay is walking distance to Singapore’s best nightclubs – and both offer cheap bunks and discounted beer for guests. Most nights the bars host live bands until the wee hours, so this is one hostel where no one will tell you to keep the noise down.

When hard-partying Gap Year types pass through Singapore, they usually end up at the Inn Crowd in Little India. Whether it’s a hostel party, barbecue or free city tour by scooter, there’s always something happening here. Thanks to the hostel’s popularity the neighbouring buildings have turned into Singapore’s only backpacker bars, or if you don’t feel like going out the Inn Crowd pub has the self-proclaimed “cheapest Tiger Beer in Singapore” on tap.

A very tempting offer.

A very tempting offer.

We love the Green Kiwi Backpacker Hostel for its new facilities and cool staff, but especially for its chilled-out rooftop garden. It’s the perfect place to hang out with other hostel guests, and we were greeted by two dudes having an acoustic jam session in the middle of the day. There are plenty of bars in the surrounding Bugis neighbourhood, but the hostel sells cans of Tiger Beer for S$3 — that’s cheaper than any bar or even from 7-eleven.
