Classique Hotel
Worth every cent

What we say:
After viewing a few Little India budget hotels where we didn't need to venture beyond the lobby to see roaches, Classique Hotel was a welcome surprise. The rooms are small and beds quite firm, but they pack in all the modern amenities and, most importantly, hotel staff take pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable condition. The cheapest rooms are windowless but you're not missing out on any view. Classique is nothing fancy, but worth every cent of their reasonable rates which include taxes, service charge, WiFi and a simple breakfast.

Not sure what to expect
Stayed here for 4 nights and paid SGD 85.00. We had a twin room (with window) facing the main road. The windows were not very sound proof, so with could slightly hear the noise (note: there is a disco just across the street). But it's nothing too bad really. The room itself is smallish, but OK. The location is OK, it's a 3min walk to the SMRT station and there are lots of intresting food places - mostly Indian - in the vincinity. There is free wireless internet access available. Laundry service is quite expensive. Note: they do not have rooms with double bed AND windows.

Brilliant
We just about cried when we got to Classique, after escaping one of the most vile hotels (Tekka: avoid) ever opened. This place might seem more expensive than other budget joints in Singapore but this is one city where you get what you pay for. Classique is brilliant, tremendous value: spotless rooms, big bathrooms, a fridge, a safe and - lo! - a kettle in your room. All this for not much more than we were paying at our shocker. Highly, highly recommended.
