A stone's throw behind the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, Tekka Hotel has good rooms in a row of restored shophouses in the centre of Little India. Cable TV, hot showers, comfortable beds, complimentary coffee and bottled water and internet connectivity in-room. The rooms are above average, though rather small –- go for the deluxe option, which is larger. Overall, pretty good value.

I'd agree with Bruthiaux: Travelfish has got it pretty badly wrong on this one. To say it's seen better days would be putting it mildly. The room was dire, with a window that looked out onto the rear of a restaurant so you got clanging pots and pans until midnight, starting again at 7am. The room was filthy - mouse droppings on the floor (I'm choosing to believe mouse) - and the air-con had been dripping on the pillow. There was hair everywhere and stains on the sheets. The promised WiFi didn't work and the staff were impossibly rude.

I read several reviews before booking, all negative, and I thought: these people were unlucky, the place can't be that bad. It is. This is the filthiest hotel I ever stayed in. My room hadn't been swept in days, the shower hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Previous guests' hair was everywhere: all over the bed, the floor, the shower. It's amazing a place as filthy as this doesn't get closed down in a city as clean as Singapore. The disgusting breakfast, windowless rooms, and the rude management were minor inconveniences in comparison. Absolutely disgusting.
