Understated luxury

A heartbeat away from the backpackers' quarter at Dunlop Street, Perak Hotel sits in a beautiful shophouse with charming wood interiors. All 35 rooms are understated luxury with clean, elegant lines and well-lit rooms. The expected amenities are present: air-con, attached bathrooms, TV, and minibars; as well as a good complimentary breakfast, and wireless internet in the lobby and certain rooms. The hotel boasts of being among the '50 Best Budget Hotels' named by The Independent (in 2001), and rightly so -- Perak Hotel is a veritable oasis in Little India. Highly recommended. Note that like all Singapore hotels of this range, peak season rates (usually during busy international conference months) increase by as much as $50, so book ahead. All rates ++.

Perak Hotel reviews

A lovely place to stay - 21st September, 2007
This isn't the cheapest place in Singapore, but, it was a lovely place to stay. Very clean, very nice rooms, very good service, and a nice breakfast. We could have got a late deal at the Novotel for the same price, but I am glad we chose here instead. It was a lot more personable and we were made to feel very welcome.
