This older four-star hotel would get full marks if we judged only on location — it's a stone's throw from City Hall MRT and surrounded by great places to eat. The rooms have a very modern style and amenities but, on closer inspection, are rough around the edges. Considering they have 600 rooms some are bound to be better than others, so if you think your room is a lemon it's worth asking to see another. The Peninsula almost redeems itself with its facilities — there are two pools including a rooftop spot with a great city view.
