Description
Not far around the corner from Ban Lotus this guesthouse is located near the main temple ruins in an unusual location beneath a shopping mall. If approaching from Naresuan Rd, just look for the massive Sunrise Plaza sign on the front of a huge building and walk to the back of the car-park beneath. Here you will find large clean rooms, simply furnished with comfortable beds, cable TV, and hot showers. The rooms away from the car-park are quieter. VIP rooms overlooking the car-park offer the above plus microwave and fridge. At the back of the building a long terrace decorated with plants provides a cool location to unwind and a restaurant with a wide variety of good priced meals. The staff here are really helpful and friendly.

Almost no one knows about this place, even the tuk-tuk drivers! God knows why! This is definitely the best-value accommodation in Ayutthaya and the owners, Noi and Alec, will do anything to please.
Rooms are new, modern and spotless. The ''deluxe'' room includes a refrigerator. I stayed in the air conditioned room with large soft bed, own toilet and hot shower, and cable colour TV (only English is Australia BC, Reality TV and Singapore's Asian Regional News though). Laundry services are available at B40 per kilo: I have seen them turn around 4 kilos, pressed nicely or on hangars, in 1 day.
The restaurant serves typical cheap Chinese-Thai guest house fry-up for about US$1.25 per meal, but look for unique dishes like ''Spaghetti Thai'' (spaghetti with a moderately-spiced, tasty sauce) B30, ''American Fried Rice'' (fried rice with egg, bologna, hot dogs, and a little chicken steak)B60, and ''Sukiyaki'' (vegetable soup with thin noodles - very tasty)B50. Beer is available (Heineken B40 per can) as well as soft drinks and ice cream. There is also a cheap, clean ''Thai Steaks'' restaurant at the entrance to the little mall between Sunrise Place and Naresuan Road, with chicken, pork, bass, snapper and T-Bone steaks, western style, at US$1 - $4.50 each.
Can't find it? Ask to go where the air-con buses and vans leave for Bangkok. Pass the 7-11 on your left side and then turn left at the little Buddhist altar, into a little shopping mall. Keep going straight through what looks like a parking garage until you get to the open air restaurant.
There are also about 10 internet shops at B15 per hour, air conditioned, around the corner. Next door to those, you can hire large bicycles at B50 per hour. Enjoy!

P.U. Guesthouse
20/1 Moo 4 off Naresuan Soi 1
The large, reasonably new P.U. offers good value and is often full, so book ahead. There is a small garden, common area and a large restaurant inside. The rooms... more
