Sherwood House
Budget spot with a pool

What we say:
Just south of the roundabout where Chikun and Pa Thon Roads meet, and an easy walk from the most popular ruins, this cosy and inviting guesthouse offers five good, clean rooms with big windows and comfy beds. The simple rooms don't win any style points but they are spacious and have shiny tile floors. All bathrooms are shared, but with one upstairs and two down overcrowding is rarely a problem. An upstairs terrace overlooks a decent sized swimming pool that's free for guests and seems totally out of place in the middle of a small budget guesthouse, not that we're complaining. The pool is open to non-guests from 09:00 to 20:00 and costs 50 baht per day for adults or 35 baht for children -- the locals know Sherwood as "MM Swimming Pool". Inside there's a small restaurant/bar and common area, and a very friendly staff rent out bicycles and motorbikes. As a favourite with independent tour groups, Sherwood is often full, so book ahead.

Clean and Friendly
I stayed here for 3 days. I found the accommodation very clean and inexpensive. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The guest house is situated near to all the main temples and ruins so with a bicycle you can get around the attractions very easily. You can even walk to some of the sites in 5 minutes. Sherwood also has a swimming pool so it's a great place to relax after stomping around temples all day. Great rooms, great food and nice staff.

Brilliant
We spent a week here and enjoyed it immensely. Steve the owner was a mine of info, the place was very relaxing and the swimming pool exactly what you want to break a day visiting the World Heritage Site.

swimming pool and good location
I got a fan room with 2 twin beds, no mosquito net, shared bathroom, THB280. Hot shower, swimming pool, very refreshing. Location is good for seeing the ruins, walking distance to some of them. One day in Ayutthaya is enough.
