Grandparent's Home

An all-round winner

What we say: 3.5 stars

Set in a central location along Naresuan Road within a five-minute walk of Wat Mahathat, the bus and minibus stops, the backpacker strip and the night market, Grandparent's Home offers a cluster of clean, simple and comfortable rooms set back from the road. All rooms are the same -- spotless tile floors, bureaus, cute little tables with chairs, lots of space, free WiFi, TVs, fridges, comfortable beds with fresh sheets, a couple of windows with white cotton curtains and modern hot water bathrooms. Our only gripe is that rooms occupy identical small building blocks and windows immediately face the adjacent buildings, so look elsewhere if it's charming views you're after. The guesthouse is run by a laidback family who speak limited English. A separate restaurant area out front is a good place for a coffee, and bicycles can also be rented here. For the location, quality and value, Grandparent's Home is a solid choice.
