Baan Suan Guesthouse
Excellent budget choice

What we say:
Set back from quiet Soi Jakraprad, which runs parallel to Naresuan Road and is a five-minute walk from the backpacker strip, Baan Suan offers good value fan rooms with shared cold water bath on the second floor of the main building set behind a spacious garden area with a couple of salas and tables. With little more than bed(s) and white walls that are completely lacking decor apart from the attached fans, these are basic but spacious, well kept and bright with large windows. Although a bit cramped, the shared bathrooms are reasonably clean and the shared second floor balcony is a big plus. Three air-con wood bungalows are also available with basic private hot water baths, springy beds with mosquito nets, tiny TVs and spacious front porches. While the porches are great, the same money will get you a more equipped and comfy room elsewhere. The man who runs who runs Baan Suan is so relaxed that he can seem a bit indiferent, but he is friendly enough and rents out bicycles and motorbikes. WiFi is also free throughout the guesthouse.

good value
We stayed here yesterday in a Bungalow for 500 Baht. Bungalow was spotless clean, and the garden is nice. Owner was very fiendly an laid-back, and locaton is really good too. Only minor point we had was that it was not 100 percent with some howling dogs at night and some local Thai kids staying up late and getting up early at the bar at the entrance of the GH.

I would stay here again
Look everyones comments are spot on. The price has only gone up to 350 for the fan room and the location just opposite the Historic Park is excellent. There is a great night market only a 10 minute walk away. A good stay.

Lovely Bungalow
We stayed in a bungalow for 5 nights in November 2006. We paid 600THB a night. Definitely worth having A/C. As a couple we would have prefered a double bed, as the bungalows have 2 singles but it was fine. Very comfortable beds, clean sheets. The owner was very helpful and chilled out. He rents out bikes for 50THB per day which are great for visiting the wats. There is also a very nice restaurant just down the road. Beware the dogs packs in Auytthaya at night!!

Liked it a lot
It is now under new ownership, and renamed to Baan Suan Guesthouse. I stayed there in Feb 2006 (in a bungalow) and was very happy. The bungalow was clean and well maintained -- not always true in Thailand. Also, the owners were very very helpful to me when I had a minor medical problem.

Real nice
It was in august 2002 when I was there. The English teacher, she was very friendly and see always organised some sightseeing tours with a tuk-tuk. In the large garden you could take your drinks from the frig. and write that down on a paper. In the evening we played the guitar in the garden or went for a huge cheap though good dinner at Tony's. The only thing what was less, was the bathroom, small but clean.
