Description
The Sheraton is the least well-located of the luxury riverside hotels, being a long hike away from the BTS along congested Charoen Krung Road. You can however hop on the Chao Phraya River Express and get whisked down to the BTS at Saphan Taksin, plus antique hunters not fussed about paying too much for looted regional antiquities should love its proximity to the River City shopping complex. Chinatown is about a 30-minute walk away. The hotel is five-star standard, boasting very comfortable rooms with spectacular river views. One gripe here is the number of touts that hang out in front of the hotel whom the hotel staff doesn't mind calling in to pick up guests. If you're able to beat off the touts then this isn't a bad choice.

Shangri-La
89 Wat Suan Plu New Road
One of the best hotels on the river, the Shangri-La has two wings, both of which offer great water views. Rooms are five-star standard: tastefully designed and immaculate. The pool is spacious and excellently located on the banks of the Chao Phraya, but as with all riverside locations, the noise... more

Lebua at State Tower
1055 Silom Rd, Bangkok
This all-suite hotel occupying the 51 to 59 stories of State Tower is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the world, but given the towering building it occupies, the gigantic suites, and the considerable number of rooms, this is slightly surprising. Despite this, the service is impeccable, the... more
