Description
Entering the lobby, decorated with Lanna style Thai furniture, decoration and relaxing, traditional music, you will immediately realise that this is not your ordinary Bangkok hotel. The atmosphere is immediately relaxing, which is crucial if you plan on staying this close to the hustle and bustle of Patpong and Silom. It really is the only boutique style accommodation in the area and the rooms have wooden floors and Thai decoration that give it a classic and comfortable feel. The rooftop pool, spa, and fitness centre are all great for days when you don't feel like hitting the town and the location at the end of Patpong is great for shoppers. People easily bothered by tuk tuk drivers, touts and the likes should look for a quieter neighbourhood.

The Swiss Lodge
3 Convent Rd, Bangkok
This boutique hotel is in a good location on stylish Convent Road, making it a great choice for those wanting to check out the array of bars and restaurants nearby. It's just a five-minute walk to Sala Daeng BTS, too. The Swiss Lodge has some of the friendliest and helpful staff in town. The rooms... more

The Dusit Thani
946 Rama IV Rd, Bangkok
This landmark building on the corner of Sukhumvit and Rama IV Roads, is an ideally located luxury hotel with a long history as well - it was once the tallest building in Bangkok. Both the BTS and subway are within easy walking distance, as is green haven Lumpini Park and the general shopping mecca... more

Holiday Inn Bangkok
981 Silom Road
A favourite among tour groups and Australians, the Holiday Inn is... well, it's a Holiday Inn. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and the spacious restaurants mean it never feels quite as crowded as it generally gets. All rooms are decked out in a typical Thai style. Deluxe rooms were... more

Narai Hotel
222 Silom Rd, Bangkok
A package tour favourite, the Narai gets a thumbs down for letting annoying touts clog the front area with their clapped-out Datsuns. For this reason alone we'd advocate a boycott, although they seem to have tamed a bit recently. They must be offering tour groups fantastic rates as occupancy levels... more

Tawana Ramada Hotel
80 Surawong Rd, Bangkok
Within spitting distance of Silom Road, the Tawana Ramada is a bit quieter though still on a busy road. Almost fronting onto the northern end of Patpong, touts can also be a very big pain around here. The 2006 upgrade to superior rooms was well done and the 2007 renovation to deluxe rooms should be... more
