The Urban Age
Friendly and low key

What we say:
While Urban Age may lack the style and flash of the other grander Silom hostels, it more than compensates with a particularly welcoming, traveller-style atmosphere. Check the very well-utilised traveller's notice board as testament to the popularity of this small guesthouse. Set in an aging shop front building, the owners have done the best they can with what is admittedly a pretty well-seasoned building, and the result is homey. The dorms are basic but clean, while the double rooms are enormous for this price range and come with mosquito nets, soft coloured curtains and parquet floors — a nice change from shabby concrete. Small, but clean shared bathroom facilities are available on the third and fifth floors. Be warned some dorms are located on the sixth floor and there is no elevator, however a 50 baht discount is offered to compensate for this inconvenience. Downstairs has a small common area with free WiFi. If you're looking for slick modernity, Urban Age probably isn't for you, but if you're in the market for a really friendly, basic traveller crash house, this could be just what the doctor ordered. Location is spitting distance from Silom.
