Description
Close to Bangkok's central train station, the Krung Kasem Srikrung is an appealing option for travellers who arrive in Bangkok by rail and are in need of a stationary bed. Though none of the rooms have a fridge, all have air-con and TV and if you pay a bit extra you can get a bath. Some have balconies overlooking the train station. The in-house Valentine Coffee Shop has decent Taiwanese and Chinese fare for about 80B.

Okay for a night -

Of course the only reason you'd stay here is to be close to the train station. The views from the back of the hotel are pointless but the room and the bathroom were very clean and the staff was polite. For what it is, it is okay.

Not Good Value -

We stayed here because it is very close to the train station and we wanted an early getaway in the morning. That is probably the only thing going for this hotel. It does have hot water, air con and tv in the rooms (but no English language channels). But the room we had smelt of stale smoke and the pillows were too fat. In fact, it was quite dingy and you can get much better rooms for the same price (650B) elsewhere. I wouldn't stay here again.

Have you stayed at Krung Kasem Srikrung Hotel? What did you think?

Sri Hualamphong Hotel
445 Rong Muang Rd, Hualamphong
This old-style Chinese hotel must have been gorgeous before World War 2, but the charm has faded and the rooms are now more grime than grand. Rooms are very big, but it gets a fair bit of short-term trade and other hotels in the area offer better value. To get there, exit the station, turn left and... more

Station Hotel
518 Opposite Hualamphong Station
Located down a food stall soi to the left of Hualamphong station when exiting (look for the sign up high reading Station Hotel), the Station has clean though very basic rooms. The beds are prison cell-style but they're functional and the rooms are reasonably quiet. Be aware that fan rooms allow... more
