One of the more brightly coloured hotels on Khao San Road, the Siam Oriental is a pretty reasonable option with a wide range of rooms catering for most budgets. The cheapest (and windowless) rooms are a bit on the dreary side, but they're all clean. A rare elevator is a blessing for those with heavy bags who are relegated to a high floor room. The downstairs restaurant is very popular. Overall, for the money, this is not a bad deal, though they have a lot of variations on the prices listed below.

By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. Basic - 26th February, 2007
We stayed here two nights but found that it was quite expensive for how basic the room was. It was fairly clean but very, very noisy at night, but you would expect that from any hotel on KSR.

Basic, but very crashable - 13th January, 2008
Pretty basic digs, but it's cheap and it's easy to show up in the wee hours and get a room quickly. The restaurant downstairs isn't exactly amazing, but it's always pretty lively, and they are usually showing movies.

Friendly staff - 1st November, 2007
Stayed in a fan room on 5th floor for about 6 weeks. Room was rather drab as it hadn't been painted in a long time. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Didn't try the restaurant. Internet was reasonable - 10bt/15min. Lockers and luggage storage behind reception. Good location if you're into the Khao San thing.

Just a glance. - 23rd June, 2007
Me and my friends just took a quick look on this guesthouse, we don't actually stay there. However, just my humble opinion - it is same as Nana Plaza Inn, clean room with run down facilities. I would like to recommend peole to walk a few blocks further to get a better place.

Nice and clean. - 21st December, 2005
We had a triple room at the Siam Oriental, and it was nice, clean and good value. It's not very colourful on the inside, but I wouldn't pay more for colour anyway! Only stayed here for one night as a stopover between Chiang Mai and Ko Samet, but it was my first really good night of sleep in Thailand, the bed was really comfy.
