At Home Guesthouse

Clean with good service

Clean and good service is actually their slogan, and they deliver. Very reasonable prices for quality, if simple accommodation with colourful bedding and bath tiles. The location near Khao San Rd is an up-and-coming backpacker destination with vegetarian restaurants, a few internet cafes, and the like, but with a much more laid back vibe. There is a very tastefully designed open-air lobby restaurant that has a big screen TV and free WiFi. The restaurant even serves Thai food at less than Khao San inflated prices. A good place to stay if you want the shopping and bar hopping of the area, but without so much traffic or drunken hooligans.

Quiet, simple and clean - 31st December, 2009
This is a good place to stay if you want somewhere a little quieter than on the main road of Koh San but still want great access to the area. It is basic accommodation but clean and quite roomy rooms. We stayed in the double air-con room for 520 baht (slightly higher due to peak season). Also great if you like veggie/vegan food as turn right out of hotel and two doors down if Ethos - turn left ad two doors down is Number 1 - both excellent veggie restaurants. I would recommend My Home to anyone wanting to be slightly away from Koh San - but really it's only 2mis away (just across the road)!

Bed bugs at the home!!! - 9th November, 2009
I phoned the guesthouse (117 Tanao Road, Bangkok) in advance to make a reservation for a double room and it was booked as far as I was concerned. Upon arrival, the lady owner said there were no double rooms available which was very disappointing. I found a blood stains on the bed sheets, and bed bugs on the sheets and mattress. I went down to reception with a handful of bed bugs. The lady owner was having none of it, she was extremely rude, unhelpful and she didn’t want to take any responsibility. I am definitely NOT going back there and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who is thinking of staying there. By far the worst guesthouse I have ever stayed in!

BED BUGS!!!! - 3rd November, 2009
Bugs, Bugs…Bed Bugs galore! At Home Guesthouse on Tanao Road, Bangkok ….the only thing at home is the BED BUGS!!!! When I took a handful of bed bugs to the reception the lady owner didn’t seemed too surprised or that bothered. I told her that I was going to check out and wanted my money back. She was very rude, totally unsympathetic and refused to give me a full refund. I would never ever recommend this guesthouse to anyone….be warned!

Clean and cool - 25th December, 2008
We had to come back to Khao san, and previously stayed at the Shambarra but it was full and so we got directed to 'at home'. It's a good base. The rooms are very clean and the staff on reception are really helpful, the owner was very eager to help us with local transport. Granted you do not get a plug socket or loo roll in your room, but given its price, its not so bad. Also, you can charge your stuff downstairs for free. With regards to the Wifi, it is free but it doesn't belong to 'at home'. We sat on the nearest table to the road and got free wifi, not sure who it belongs too, but no password needed. Its also a great location, with a few veggie places across the street. Recommended.

Not impresssed - 6th January, 2008
Stayed for one night January 2008, double room with A/C. First time 500 Baht didn't even get me soap and toilet paper, let alone a wall socket to charge a laptop/phone or enough bedding to cover 2 people (on a double bed). Woke in the night as something was biting me - not just the obvious mosquito, I think, but something the bed (based on the little marks my girlfriend and I developed the next day). Could conceivably have been worse, but would not stay again at half the price.
