Four Sons Village
Comfortable, good value, friendly staff

What we say:
The rooms are ok size and many of the rooms have large TVs hanging off the ceiling above the foot of the bed — be careful not to whack your head. There are two choices of rooms — the cheaper ones at the rear or the ones at the front that have their own balconies. A note on the rooms with balconies, be sure to keep your veranda door locked as it is easy to climb from one to another. Be warned, the single rooms are up on the sixth floor and there is no elevator. The payback for all this exertion is that they offer a spectacular view of the city skyline and nearby temple. There is a large, good restaurant downstairs. The staff are friendly, if a little clueless.

Decent Place
The people at the reception and in the travel agency have always been and still are extremely friendly and helpful. * During my previous visits over the last five years the restaurant staff have always been a little surly but this last time they were down right rude, offensive and insulting. Happy to announce that they are finally slowly repainting the place. I don't know what the woman previous is complaining about there not being a luggage carrier. I don't really know what she expects for 10-15 euros a night. > I have eaten at the restaurant before. The food is good reasonably priced but I have to admit I avoid it because of the rude staff, terrible music, and terrible music that is way too LOUD. I am now resigned to never eat their again. I was berated because I only ordered some kind of shake and not something more expensive like beer at 5:00 in the evening when the restaurant was almost empty. They also went and kicked another couple of people out of their empty restaurant who were clients of the hotel but were not there to eat. (There were two other tables occupied in the entire place.) > I really don't understand this kind of behavior by the staff, it's like shooting yourself in the foot. > When I asked the receptionist if I could have a comments card so I could address my concerns, it was almost as if she knew what I was going to write, as she discreetly explained to me the comments card concerned the hotel and hotel only and not the restaurant. * (I don't really use the travel agency as they only sell the ticket for the private bus companies that leave from Khao San and this doesn't correspond with the comforts I expect while traveling in Thailand.)

good value option
For 500B we got a smallish clean double room with air-con, tv, balcony, bathroom. Having stayed in Bangkok several times, I like this location as it is close to Khao San Rd but quiet and seems good value (especially if you want air-con) compared to a lot of other places I have seen. The cafe at the front is overpriced and does not show movies any more like it used to.

bad attitute!!
i was just returned from thailand on few days..i had encountered the worst experience from four sons village while checking out.... to made a long story short, i was glad at frist when the carrier helped me to bring my suitcase up to 6 floor and i was more than happy to paid the tips...but when i called to the reception for help to carry my suitcase down on last day, this lady told me the carrier didn't show up that morning ..so i asked nicely if i could wait for him to come in later and she was muttering about he was on holiday and i should just help myself to bring my own stuffs down then hung up on me...then when i came downstairs i saw the carrier was there looking innocent...so i confronted that lady ''is he here?'' she was snapped and shouted at me ''who know when u are checking out? he just comes in..''(but we all knew he was there all the time) she went on '' do u know how many people checking in cecking out every day!!??''... a/way, i told her no need to acting angry and raising her voice at me as i wouldn't mind to pay extra money for help or she could just told me that they didn't provide that service but i really dislike the feeling being lie to..but she just kept on yelling at me as it would justify her behaviour....sigh...i think the supervisor should teach their staffs to be more customer-friendly instead of giving such bad attitute as it's just a one time deal for their biz...

great food, great place
A wonderful basic place with some of the best food I have eaten in Thailand. Conveniently located close to the express boat pier, far enough from and still close to Khao San Road if you need it and surprisingly quiet. Soi Chanasongkhram is the place to be if you look for a/c and hot shower around 500 baht in a laid back atmosphere. We paid 480 for a room looking out on the rear of Four Sons Village. It was basic but clean, all you need. But test the a/c (ours was a bit noisy) and the beds. For us it was more than okay. The house was quiet at nights. At first glance the staff seems to be the usual indifferent Khao San style, doing their thing in a rather stone-faced manner. But if you stay for more than one night, behave halfway decently and know how to smile the impression will change. Especially when you appreciate their food which is just great. The menu is huge, take your time. We´ve compared to pricey and/or famous Bangkok restaurants like the ''Cabbages & Condoms'' and found Four Sons Village at least equal if not better. Ask for original Thai style preparation, it really won´t hurt that much and the waiters will love you. At first they would go like ''ah, you can´t eat this, too spiceee!'' but when we did we received really nice, attentive treatment during the next four days. Eat as much as you can! The travel agengy connected to Four Sons Village is not recommendable. The guy tried to charge us 3750 baht for a flight to Samui. Just walk over to the internet cafe they provide and book it online for 2750. Same for bus trips. All in all: great place, I´ll come back for sure.

One of the best options in Khao San area
In our opinion, Four Sons is one of the best options in the Khao San area. Good value, with air-con, TV, hot shower. Lots of rooms come with nice balcony, but this side of the building is a little bit noisy. Rooms are very clean. The staff are friendly. Sometimes they have good promotions (150B discount for the twin room with balcony). Location is very good, close to Khao San Road and Chao Phraya Express boat. They have a good kitchen, but a little bit pricey (except beers).

Good value
Stayed in double with air-con, private bathroom, in January 2008. Rooms are characterless but large enough to open a suitcase in, and seem to be kept clean. The bathrooms have windows that open onto the corridor, for those who really like to share. The shower is hot but pressure is low. No-frills accomodation, but better value than many in the area.

Nothing to shout about
I paid 500B for a double room with balcony (air-con and hot shower) at Four Sons. Rooms are clean, facilities good, location is quiet. However, staff are not so friendly (bottomline friendliness), no lift (if you stay on the 4th or 5th floor, you must have a strong legs) and you must pay a 500B deposit upfront (refunded when you check out).

Good location
We moved to this one after spending a night on Khao San. Still only a short walk to all the action if you want to party, but none of the noise if you are suffering from said partying. Staff are very helpful, but this is a busy place so if you want one-on-one attention this isn't the one for you. We left our laptop at the desk every day and it was returned to us every night safe and sound. Also close to Gecko Bar, which has the cheapest beer in town.

Simple Clean Room
Chart Guesthouse was simple and plain. The room was pretty clean. Good location close to but away from the crowd of Khao San Road.
