Sawasdee Krungthep Inn

Decent backpacker crash pad

Another of the Sawasdee chain of hotels and guesthouses, all the rooms here have private bathroom and cable TV. Standard rooms are mouldy smelling and have tiny, yet clean baths (the sink is actually in the bedroom!) Superior rooms have slat windows that provide a little extra air, newer televisions, and on the whole seem much more pleasant. They’re certainly worth the extra 25B in the low season, although none of the rooms are worth spending much time in. Convenient mini-bar baskets contain cigarettes, lighters, Mekong whiskey, Pringles, and condoms. The staff are friendly and the big screen TV in the lobby shows non-stop movies and sports.

By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. Sawasdee Krungthep Inn reviews

Read 2 opinions from Travelfish readers

check the room first - 21st September, 2009
rooms are indeed tiny but clean, although the blanket had cigarette burns in it. however there is no natural light at all, windows are louvred rather than solid and the aircon was like trying to sleep next to a 747, even with earplugs i didn't sleep a wink all night. staff also gave me directions to the completely wrong train station (good thing i know where i'm going!) i think some rooms might be ok here, but you should definitely shop around this area if possible to avoid the dark dank noisy rooms like i had...

a good choice - 1st January, 2006
The double rooms (air-con with private bathroom and hot water) are good value (500 bath): huge and clean. Ask for a towel if you don't have one in your room.
