Description
Best Living House can be found just off Soi Sri Bamphen, partly obscured by nearby food stalls. Clean, spacious rooms in this five-story building are popular with both Thais and foreigners. Unfortunately the climb up to the top floor might not make this the best place for the less physically active among us -- even the staff members complain about not having a lift! The staff here are swing between laid back and downright lazy, however, extreme cleanliness and fragrant rooms definitely stand out as big positives for Best Living House.
Very secure, without a key card, the non-English speaking maid will not allow entry to strangers. Popular with Thai students, most rooms are rented out on a monthly, rather than daily rate.

Sala Thai Daily Mansion
Soi Saphan Khu 15 (off Soi Sri Bamphen), Bangkok
At the end of the Soi, and sitting under towering palm trees, is Sala Thai Guesthouse. First impressions are obviously not a priority, as cardboard boxes and plastic bags clutter up what was once a nice communal area. Staff here are friendly, if a little unenthusiastic when showing guests around... more
Madame Guesthouse
11 Soi Saphan Khu, Off Soi Sri Bamphen, Bangkok
Tucked away down this leafy backstreet, Madame Guesthouse fills the gap in the market for cheap, silent, fan-cooled rooms. As a converted house, staying at Madame has a very homely feel, requiring guests to share their lobby with the family kitchen. Corridors and staircases are small to say the... more
Skyland Tours and Guest House
35/5 Soi Ngam Dupli, Bangkok
Skyland Tours and Guesthouse has a nice looking lobby, which functions primarily as a travel agent. While the mood here matches the bland architecture of the neighbouring Rice Exporters Association, staff are friendly and polite, and happy to provide information about the guesthouse. The rooms are... more
Lee 4 Guest House
Soi Saphan Khu (off Soi Sri Bamphen), Bangkok
Down the quiet side street of Soi Saphan Khu lies Lee's fourth and final guesthouse. The small lobby of Lee 4 guesthouse is sometimes found silent, occupied only by a dozing elderly lady. If you have to courage to wake her up, beware of the blunt and suspicious manner that you may have to deal... more
ETC Guest House
5/3 Soi Ngam Dupli, Bangkok
Situated at the noisier end of Soi Ngam Dupli, ETC guesthouse is very much in the thick of the Rama IV commuter scene. From outside, ETC does a pretty good job of disguising itself as a budget travel agent, however once inside, staff are polite and efficient Perched next to local food vendors and... more
Moon House
2/10-11 Soi Sri Bamphen, Bangkok
Just off Soi Ngam Duphli is the no-frills Moon House guesthouse. If you're easily claustrophobic or are above average height, the small dark stairwells at Moon House will probably put you off. Nevertheless, rooms are well kept, and offer a cheaper alternative to many other options nearby and long... more
