Description
Located on the corner of Soi Kasem San 1 and Rama 1, the Muangphol Mansion was once a bright shining example of a decrepit looking firetrap, but it's amazing the difference a coat of paint makes. Aside from painting the outside, the rooms also got a bit of a spruce up, and although still pretty noisy, its better value than it used to be. Unfortunately, guests are not allowed to examine rooms before agreeing to rent one. All rooms have air-con and hot water; some have TVs, but apparently only receive Thai TV channels.

A bathtub bonus -

The staff here aren't the friendliest, but all the rooms I've stayed in have a bathtub, which is somewhat unusual. There is also 24-hour room service from the restaurant, for only a 10% surcharge. Unless you speak Thai, don't bother with the TV option, they don't have satellite.
