Reno Hotel
A retro favourite and excellent value for money

What we say:
An endearing mixture of quirky charm and good value for money has made the Reno something of a hit with travellers. You get the distinct feeling the retro fittings and décor are the real deal and haven't been touched since the late 70s. On the ground floor there is a rather funky looking cafe and, best of all, a completely unexpected swimming pool to wallow away a muggy Bangkok afternoon in. The 58 rooms are decently sized, bright, clean and include a fridge, safebox and cable TV. Several rooms with balconies overlooking the swimming pool area are also available. One minor irritation is that WiFi access is charged by the minute. As with all the properties on Soi Kasem San 1, the location is excellent for shopaholics and anyone else who wants a good priced hotel-style room close to central Bangkok. An example of shimmering modernity it ain't, but if you're after a bit of character the Reno is a comfortable, enjoyable choice for a great price.

best location&frindly stuff
Best location in town, Friendly stuff, big enough rooms, power AC, amazing foodcort on 6 floor in MBK (3 min.walk). Childrens was fun at the pool. Not so freshair place as riverside, but 100% recommended.

Undeserving write up
Like Kevincorr I habitually stay on this soi, but usually in one of the cheaper places. Spending 1,400 on a deluxe room is definitely a step up from my usual standard, which more often than not is the Muangphol Mansion just down the street. I find the Travelfish write up here less than handsome, the place is pretty good value in my opinion - 1,400 for a pretty large room with big bed, cable, air-con AND fridge, in that location, the place having a pool big enough to actually swim in, is pretty good.

Friendly
Having had no luck finding a room in any of the other spots on this street, I got in here. This place was an odd mix. Rooms were totally adequate. No fridge but a safe box. Nice bathroom, comfortable beds, a basic patio. The pool was a nice break from the heat of Bangkok. The staff was very friendly, although not the best source of travel info. The hotel is close to mass transit - 5 minutes from two different SkyTrain lines and the subway - and right down the street from the maze of malls that is Siam Square. Prices quoted here are current. I would stay here again.

Still a good value
Having a pool at this price is nice. Good bathrooms, and TV but no fridge. Best location in Bangkok.

Reno Holel
My Favourite location. Safe in room is handy. Next door is the nice Soras Bar and Restaurant. Near handy khlong-canal taxi. Good laundry service. A step below neighbouring Asia Hotel.
