White Lodge

Small and cramped, but clean and cheap

If you're on a budget, the White Lodge is among the cheapest of the options on Soi Kasem San 1, but the old adage you get what you pay for holds oh so true. The rooms here, small and often quite cramped, are clean and functional -- that's about as generous as we can be. At least there is a decent pizza joint nextdoor so you don't need to spend too long camped inside. The staff swing between friendly and approachable through to curt and harried -- perhaps the cramped up reception area has something to do with this. If you're leaning towards White Lodge you're shopping on a price basis, and on that standard alone, the rooms are a good deal -- for the location.

White Lodge reviews

Read 3 opinions from Travelfish readers

Alright, pretty cheap - 20th July, 2008
Stayed at two different double rooms, one somewhat bigger in the first floor for 500B and another smaller one upstairs for 400B. Both rooms were okay, though not in the best shape. The bigger one was quite noisy as people passed in the hallway constantly, and the upper one was a little too small. Cleanliness overall was adequate and the staff were friendly enough. The price is good for this area of Bangkok, but not amazing value otherwise.

Not the cheapest - 5th March, 2007
Pranee Building has most of its rooms for 400 baht, and Pranee's smallest, pokiest rooms with fan and no air con (and no windows) are only 350.

Bargain - 14th December, 2006
I've stayed here 3 times, and at 400 Baht (for 1 person, 500 Baht for 2) for an a/c room in the centre of Bangkok, it is fantastic value! The receptionist friendlier on the 2nd and 3rd visits!
