Asia Hotel Bangkok

Huge tour group hotel

Asia hotel has an enormous lobby surrounded by restaurants, bars and cafes. They even have their own Calypso cabaret katoey show within the hotel. The hotel has 650 rooms so it is hardly ever full, though the Standard rooms are often fully occupied. The superior rooms are generic affairs, with all the regular amenities. Deluxe rooms have a few Thai touches like silk throw pillows, but are otherwise ordinary fare. Although there are a number of annoying touts outside the hotel's entrance, there is direct access from the hotel to the BTS so you can avoid them if you wish. The hotel is a short walk to Siam Square and a moderate, 15 minute walk to Panthip plaza.

Asia Hotel Bangkok reviews

Read 2 opinions from Travelfish readers

Comfortable and convenient - 1st February, 2009
We arrived in Bangkok at the end of a long trip, and much more cashed up than we had expected to be, so had a bit of a lash out, which proved well worthwhile. We got a discount (Down to 2500 baht) just by asking. Then they had no non-smoking rooms, so by looking hangdog, we got a free upgrade. Rooms are typical three star hotel stuff, but very comfortable, with lovely soft beds, nice bathrooms, and all the facilities you expect. Location is excellent, as there are plenty of cafes and shops around about, and you can walk straight into the Skytrain station without even leaving the hotel! Just don't be talked into using their ''services''. They offered us a taxi to the Southern Bus Station for 800 baht!! (Real fare 200 baht) One very nice touch is the purified, chilled drinking water on tap in every room.

Good Choice - 24th February, 2009
Stayed here for the 1st 4nights of our trip. Good choice as the room was clean and comfy, buffet breakfast filled us up until the afternoon and it was a short walk to MBK etc. Best features was the rooftop pool (although it was kinda cold and not very deep), the free drinking water and being connected to the skytrain. Quite a few reataurants in the hotel but didnt bother going to any once we found out that the internet in the lobby was 100baht for 15mins!!When you want a taxi meter, best to walk away from the hotel as we were hassled by 2 men by the hotel doors as soon as we stepped outside and then a taxi meter hanging around refused to take us unless we paid 100baht. But overall good hotel, although nothing super special about it for the 2800baht we paid per night.
