Golden House
Great location

What we say:
This smallish hotel (the sign outside reads Golden House VIP) has 27 well-sized rooms set a mere 50m from Chidlom BTS, down a small soi that isn't right near all the action, but isn't very far either; it's a quiet, convenient location. The hotel has a very homely atmosphere helped on by very helpful staff and supported by considerable return custom. It's a good, well located choice, with clean rooms, comfortable beds, free WiFi, and cable TV. Rates include breakfast. Check online for discounts.

handy location, everything haggleable
is haggleable a word? Anyway, i stayed here for a few days at the end of december and left new years eve. (the place wasnt at all busy and remained quiet). I turned up on the day having been told via email they had alot of empty rooms, because of this they reduced the price, i recall paying 1000b a night. I didnt get the breakfasts here but i heard from others they were very good. The staff are exceptionally friendly if you talk to them like they're humans - other guests didnt. i had a late check out when i left due to a very late flight, the cost of this was wavered. Rooms are big and cool with nice bathrooms, don't expect a view, of anything. the location is why i stayed here and it is great, chid lom skytrain take less then a minute to get to, and using the elevated walk-way above the road within 10 minutes i was in the centre of siam square. Considering the prices of hotels around here its a bargain for a few minutes extra walk, when ever i have my last few days before coming home in bangkok i'd probably keep coming back here.
