Good value for the area

What we say:
Built in June 2006, and expanded and remodelled in 2007, this Hostelling International Youth Hostel offers a range of options from air-con dormitories through to spacious three-bed standard rooms. All rooms, including the dorms, come with cable tv and fridge, multiple bathrooms and a choice of mixed, and single sex dorms, though note the air-con only gets switched on if there are more than three to the room (although travellers have reported that this isn't enforced). All rooms are bright, clean, and lack the musty smell of most older, budget accommodation. Along with the dorms there are also single, double and triple rooms, though they're not as well priced as the dormitories, which, for this area of Sukhumvit are a steal. Rates include breakfast (ABF for private rooms, continental for dorms) and there's also a comfortable common area outside. Very friendly, English speaking staff make this an outstanding choice for the area. Recommended.

Not at ALL immaculate
It cost 400 baht in low season to stay in an eight-bed fan dorm room with no lockers. I was told that if I wanted to store my valuables, it would be an extra 200 baht. I reserved the bed well ahead of time online, yet they didn't have my reservation recorded. Loud music and construction noise blared through the windows from about 9am to 7pm, the ceiling leaked, and the lightbulb over my bed didn't work. The location is ABSOLUTELY fabulous, but I could have paid half the price to stay in similar conditions on Khao San.
