Description
This institution opened in 1952, and not a skerrick appears to have changed since then. It's still a bit of a shame as the foyer promises mystery and charm but the rooms themselves are dreary. As it is, the Atlanta is often full, with people seduced by the foyer, quirky pool and eclectic notices around the place posted by founder Dr Max Henn. The rooms are rundown and every mattress in the place should be burned, but still, the crowds come. The food in the restaurant is outstanding, with the decor 50s style and some of the 60s grime still around. Nevertheless we like it a lot - just don't expect too much. Not a bad family option if you're not panicked by a bit of dirt. The Atlanta is located at the very end of the soi. When you reach the church it's the abandoned-looking building on your right. It's the quietest soi in the neighbourhood, but borders the freeway, so front facing rooms are a bit quieter. Their strict anti-sex tourist policy extends to those who look like sex-workers, so travellers with Thai boy/girlfriends take note.

I've stayed here several times over the past decade. While they have celaned it up a bit, the staff has gone downhill. They were very close to being full when we showed up. We had called in advance and had a Thai speaking friend make reservations. Despite this they didn't honor our reservation, the only room they had was half a suite (someone else was already in one of the rooms) they wanted the whole full price for the other room. It was a real shame as my girlfriend had never stayed here and didn't get the opportunity to have the Atlanta experience.

During 1976/7 I had the most wonderful, exhilarating stay at the Atlanta ad would ''highly'' recomend it. I will visit again.

We love this place, it's an oasis in the middle of Nana. It certainly has character. The de'cor is fab and the staff are friendly. Even though the rooms are pretty basic we will stay again. Purely because of the foyer and the feeling of going back in tme when you sit by the pool : ) The vegetarian food is excellent too.

The rooms are a bit dingy, but this place is hilarious. Signs all around the hotel actually tell you that complaints are not allowed, because you're lucky to stay here. You will remember this place for the rest of your life.

Comprised of a rambling collection of wooden and concrete buildings hidden down a Sukhumvit Soi 11 subsoi, Suk 11 is one of Bangkok's top backpacker guesthouses. Miami Hotel
2 Sukhumvit Rd, Soi 13
This old hotel features aging rooms with prices typical of the area for the quality. The Miami is a similar spot to the Atlanta Hotel, rundown but friendly. In its favour it boasts a particularly deep swimming pool, providing welcome relief for tourists unused to Bangkok's steamy heat -- some say... more
