Chilled out rafthouses

What we say: 3 stars

The centrepiece of VN Guesthouse is a large, blocky rafthouse. Rooms are large and fairly clean, though the furniture is a bit worn, and the laminate floors are scuffed and torn. Perhaps the best thing about the rafthouse is that each room has its own private balcony overlooking a wide and scenic stretch of the river -- though note that all rafthouse rooms don't actually face the river. Air-con rooms in the building on the river's edge are fairly clean and come with TVs, hard beds and bamboo furniture. Some have a very odd design with the bed stuck behind the bathroom. Overall the accommodation offers solid budget value but lacks charm or style. The restaurant however is a cut above many other guesthouse restaurants. We found the staff to be soft-spoken but pleasant. WiFi is free. The location down Rongheabaoy Road stays quiet and isn't too far from the town centre or traveller strip. Overall this is a decent and very laidback choice.
