River Kwai Hotel
A comfortable off-the-river option

What we say:
The River Kwai Hotel has the starched atmosphere of a grand hotel past its prime. This is Kanchanaburi's token town centre four-star hotel, with all the facilities you'd expect. It has a swimming pool and a fitness room, and all of the 160 rooms have air-con, minibar, internet access and cable TV. Rooms are pleasantly decorated, though fairly characterless. For anyone looking for a top hotel in the town centre, this is probably as good as it gets in Kanchanaburi. One does get the feeling, however, that they are more used to catering for business clients than independent travellers, as evidenced by the conference facilities and business centre. The hotel also boasts the town's biggest nightclub, the Glitzy Discotheque, and an outdoor restaurant set below a giant concrete tepee. Online advanced booking offers up to 30% discount over rack rates provided here.

Good, Clean & Worth It!
We spent a few nights here in Jan ‘08.(2 rooms) Both rooms were a decent size and had fridge & TV. However, the rooms were quite worn / used and the bathrooms were not the best I’ve been in but were at least clean. The hotel lobby, coffee shop, swimming pool and restaurant were all very good and the hotel is in a good location on the main road. Overall our stay was comfortable and the included breakfast was very good with a good variety of Asian & Western food!
