What we say:

From the outside, the River Kwai Hotel has the faded facade of a grand hotel past its prime, but renovated rooms are far more inviting. This is Kanchanaburi's token town centre four-star hotel, with all the facilities you'd expect. It has a swimming pool and fitness room, and all of the 160 rooms have air-con, fridge with minibar, desk, WiFi and LCD TV on the walls. An extensive buffet breakfast is also included in the rates. The hotel boasts the town's biggest nightclub, the Glitzy Discotheque, and an outdoor restaurant. The friendly receptionist told us that rates fluctuate throughout the year but wouldn't give us hard numbers. The rates listed here are what she quoted us during our February 2013 visit. Discounts can often be found online. Note that all rates boost by 200 baht on weekends. It's a fair hike from here to the traveller strip.

Good, Clean & Worth It!

We spent a few nights here in Jan ‘08.(2 rooms) Both rooms were a decent size and had fridge & TV. However, the rooms were quite worn / used and the bathrooms were not the best I’ve been in but were at least clean. The hotel lobby, coffee shop, swimming pool and restaurant were all very good and the hotel is in a good location on the main road. Overall our stay was comfortable and the included breakfast was very good with a good variety of Asian & Western food!
